The next Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) enforcement blitz is less than a month away.
Operation Safe Driver Week
The Operation Safe Driver Week will take place July 7 — 13, 2024, in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
During CVSA Operation Safe Driver Week, law enforcement agencies will patrol for commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in unsafe driving behaviors, such as speeding, distracted driving, following too closely, drunk or drugged driving, etc. Violators will be pulled over and warned or ticketed.
Operation Safe Driver Week aims to improve the safety of our roadways through proactive driver safety outreach and education, and by addressing unsafe driving behaviors through responsive traffic enforcement when drivers are identified engaging in dangerous driving behaviors on our roadways.
The focus area for Operation Safe Driver Week 2024 will be reckless, careless, or dangerous driving, defined as “as operating a vehicle without due care and attention or reasonable consideration for other motorists or people on the road.”
During last year’s Operation Safe Driver Week, 11,448 commercial vehicle traffic stops were conducted. A total of 4,592 warnings and 2,634 tickets/citations were given to commercial motor vehicle drivers.
After Operation Safe Driver Week is over, truckers will still need to make it though one more CVSA blitz in 2024.
Brake Safety Week
Brake Safety Week is scheduled for August 25 — 31, 2024.During Brake Safety Week, commercial motor vehicle inspectors conduct brake system inspections (primarily Level IV Inspections) on large trucks and buses throughout North America to identify brake-system violations.
