The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) announced that truck travel restrictions are now in place due to winter weather conditions.
On Thursday afternoon, CSP announced that commercial motor vehicle restrictions are in place on I-70 from mile marker 169 (Eagle/Vail) to mile marker 259 (Morrison exit) due to “extreme weather.”
The truck travel restrictions will remain in place until noon on Friday, March 15.
Troopers say that the interstate is currently impassable for commercial vehicles.
Closed roadways
The Colorado Department of Transportation reported on Thursday that there were “numerous instances of jack-knifed semi trucks, many without chains” amid heavy snow.
In addition to the CMV restrictions in place, the following roadways are closed as of 3 p.m on Thursday due to the dangerous weather conditions:
I-70 both directions between Silverthorne mile point 205 and Denver mile point 259
US 40 (I-70 Frontage road) both directions from I-70 / mile point 259 to US-6 Clear Creek Canyon
US 40 Berthoud Pass from mile point 256-233
US 6 Loveland Pass from mile point 222-229
CO 119 both directions from Blackhawk mile point 1 to US 6 mile point 7
Multiple other routes may be blocked due to crashes, stuck semi trucks and other issues. Delays are likely on any roadway impacted by the storm.
Amid the road closures, many Colorado truck stops are filled up with trucks. The City of Monument, Colorado, is warning truck drivers that there is no available parking.
